The City Elders focuses on the interior world of an older generation living in New York. I have long been fascinated by the City’s senior citizens, who seem to absorb, in one way or another, the resilience of the City and its endurance. In order to explore their world, I have contacted older New Yorkers and visited them in their apartments, their sanctuaries.
The images created depict moments, memories, and relationships of the past and present. It is the details, the objects in their personal spaces, that tell the story of their lives in reference to the passing of time.
